The contest promotes the importance of hand washing at school by encouraging K-12 students to use their creative skills and imagination to design a custom soap/sanitizer dispenser. Submissions will be evaluated for visual appeal, overall hand hygiene design, creativity and unique design element. Yes. Any public or private school institution in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia can participate in the Happy Hands Contest.
With every new school year comes a new round of colds, flu and stomach bugs. We all know that hand hygiene is the most important way to stop the spread of these germs, but how do we teach this to our students? This contest, and the additional teaching tools we're including, provide you with a fun way to reintroduce proper hand hygiene and help develop life-long hand washing practices.
$1,000 Donation to the school which submitted the winning design.
$300 Gift Card for the student who submitted the winning design.
Up to 1,000 manual dispensers to display the winning design in the school.

After the finalists have been chosen for each category (Grades K-5 and 6-12), their designs will be posted on this website for public voting from February 8th – 29th. The design in each category with the most votes will be selected as the Grand Prize winner.

One representative from the public or private school institution needs to fill out the registration form on the Happy Hand Contest website. After registration is complete, SC Johnson Professional® will make sure that you receive all the necessary information as well as drawing templates for the contest. A committee of judges will evaluate all of the submissions based on visual appeal, overall design, creativity, and unique design elements. 10 finalists will be selected from each category: Grades K-5 and 6-12. The top finalists in each category will then be placed on the Happy Hands Contest website, where the public will vote for the Grand Prize winner in each category.
The top finalists from each category will be announced on the Happy Hands Contest website by February 1, 2025. Once the top finalists have been announced, the public will have until February 28, 2025 to vote for the Grand Prize winner in each category. The Grand Prize winners will then be announced in spring of 2025.
All schools will be notified by phone or email if a student at their school has a winning design. The school will then be responsible for notifying the winning student. SC Johnson Professional® will have no direct contact with any student.
